“Keronia Villa was a great base for the nine of us. Easy walk into an interesting village but very private. Really comfortable and very well equipped.”

Lovely house

5/5
“We stayed here for a week, mid April 2017.

The house itself is lovely.
Nice and spacious and absolutely stunning views. The house was very clean as well and the cleaner came after 4 days of staying to clean again.
The bedrooms are a good size and there is a good sized living accommodation.

The pool is unheated and in April very cold. We braved the cold water, but if you like your water warm, then this pool is not for you. Personally I think a solar panel with some pool heater connected would likely make this a lot more comfortable.

The owner of the house is very nice and very quick with helping. We were unfortunate and on the first night at around 00:30, just when heading to bed we heard a running water noise. Turns out the drain was blocked.
Owner was there 40 minutes later and assisted so we could get through the night.
The next morning (Easter Sunday) around 10AM he was there with a plumber with professional equipment. We were very impressed. They eventually flushed out two linen nappies which must have been flushed through the toilet by some people that stayed in here before us.
Issue was then swiftly resolved. Since it was Easter, we were left with a basket with chocolates, painted eggs, biscuits for our kids and a massive bottle of water to get us through the morning as most of the shops were closed for Easter.

WIFI: The house has wifi via a mifi connection. We found this fast enough to use our amazon kindle fire stick to stream video on the tv for our kids.

LOCATION:
The house is probably around 20 minutes drive from Chania via the "old road".
You'll need a car to get around.
The "old road" is a lovely road with on the side close to the property, loads and loads of shops, restaurants. We found a supermarket open here on Easter Sunday.
Chania itself is absolutely stunning and not to be missed.

We found the Greek people to be very friendly and love the tradition of getting a complimentary raki and cake in most restaurants.

We would recommend this property”

“Spent a week in April staying in this beautiful house, with a garden full of orange trees. Our host was very welcoming, leaving us fresh fruit and olive oil. And we picked more oranges off the trees. Very peaceful village, lovely paths up through the surrounding hills to explore, short walk to a great restaurant, town with bakers, supermarket a few km away. Couldn't ask for anywhere better.”

Exceptional accommodation in stunning Gavalachori

5/5
“We were hoping for something pretty good when we book Keronia Villa, especially when we saw the photo gallery. When we got there, however, it exceeded our expectations by far. What a stunning house and amazing views of the white mountains! The villa and grounds are impeccable with a huge amount of space, a great pool, bbq area and games room. The weather was sunny but windy, still we managed to keep low out of the wind for sunbathing and managed a few swims.

Ten of us just spent a week there over Easter and had the most amazing holiday. We were welcomed very warmly by Anestis who gave us some excellent advice on what to do during our stay. The most remarkable event was Easter Saturday at midnight in the small, beautiful village of Gavalachori. There was a huge bonfire at the church with a candle vigil attended by quite a large crowd of people from across the area. This was followed by fireworks as we headed to the main square where we were given small glasses of wine and cheese pastries along with red eggs, which we then had to challenge people with in a similar manner to conkers. It was SO much fun.

Anestis also recommended a trip across the mountains to the south of the island. We did this and it was an unforgettable day. We drove to Chora Sflakion and got a boat to Marmara (no cars can access this place), where there is a beautiful taverna. The food was wonderful and then we walked up into a vast gorge which was spectacular, with stunning photo opportunities and interesting plants and many goats. Back on the beach we swam into caves, some adjoined, which was thrilling and eventually our boat returned to pick us up and take us back to our car.

The cleaning ladies (apologies for forgetting names) were delightful. It was a woman and her daughter and they did an amazing job and we had a great chat too about all sorts of things local.

I couldn't recommend this villa highly enough. We fell in love with Crete and would love to return to Gavalachori. Thanks for all.”

Amazing time

5/5
“This was our first visit to Greece and we loved it. The hospitality and friendliness shown by Stella, Alexis and most people on the island made us feel at home and welcomed like any other experiences in our travels so far. We had a great time at the cottage relaxing by the pool and enjoying the oranges brought to us. We would recommend staying here and hope to return one day.”

Wonderful stay at Euphoria Villa

5/5
“We had a wonderful week at Euphoria villa mid April. We were met at the villa by Manolis, and he told us everything we needed to know. The villa was very clean and had everything we could possibly need along with local foods, water, beer and even raki and special Easter biscuits! The pool was thoroughly cleaned once and checked again a few days later, never had service as good as that before at a villa. We were lucky to stay over Easter and we're brought special Easter bread by the owners brother and the celebrations in Plaka were great! A lovely time of year to come. On Easter Sunday manolis came again to give us red eggs, and to show us how to play the traditional game. Villa is 10 mins easy walk to Plaka and 30 min walk to almerida, but we got a taxi back as it's a pretty big hill! Visit Aptera and Chania old town and harbour. We went further afield to Bali too, great views and sea. Loved spending evenings out by the pool and having a BBQ, drinks on the balcony at sunset was amazing. Lovely to stay somewhere that's not too touristy. Locals are very friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much!”

Easter Family Holiday

5/5
“Myself and my family stayed in Sea Queen Villa for a week in April. We were 8 adults and 4 small children. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend Sea Queen Villa. The Villa is in immaculate condition and is perfectly sized for a group holiday providing everyone with ample space. The host was very friendly and offered great advice about things to do in the surrounding area. The Villa was exactly as advertised...except the pictures do not do justice to how spacious and modern the accommodation is! The property is very private and safe for families with children. The location is ideal with beautiful beaches within a minutes walk and plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. We used it as a base for exploring western Crete and Chania and found it to be ideally located for both. ”

amazing views/stunning villa

5/5
“we were two famillies staying for two weeks in July. we were concerned that two weeks would be too much,as it was quite remote. But not at all. The villa is stunning and the view of the ocean from the pool and the villa is out of this world..we did not want to leave it ! the infinity pool is wonderful and private. If you want to explore the area, there are a few small local beaches a short drive away. Stavros has a beautiful small cove beach with a few restaurants nearby. Try the Windmill for lunch or dinner, but it does get busy. further afield you can drive to Chania about 30/40 minutes away. Its pretty with many restaurants situated around a harbour. There is plenty to do in the area with a car,but every morning it was difficult to drag ourselves away from this amazing place. You can walk down to the sea from the villa (quite steep ramp) and snorkel/swim which is perfect to cool down. The villa itself was spotless, modern and had everything you could possibly need. ”

Hitting The Jackpot

5/5
“Having stayed in affordable self catering accommodation annually for about two decades, we have stayed in memorably comfortable and well appointed villas and in delightfully quiet villas and in villas with incredible views, but this must be the first time that we have hit the jackpot and found all three in one single stay.

What we saw in the pictures was what we got. It is well designed, roomy and comfy inside and outside. There is a choice of places to enjoy the sunshine, on the grass around the pool, on the ground floor terrace or an upstairs balcony. The view from all three, across the lake in the valley below and yonder to the sea and dramatic coastline beyond must be challenging to surpass.

The external areas are well equipped with loungers, garden chairs, dining set and a cracking pool of good size that, remarkably, seems to clean itself. Inside, a friendly team of maids descends twice a week to keep the place in order and change the linen and towels.

There are some very good tavernas within easy reach between the villa and the lake, particularly, in our view, Georgia’s , where the lady of the house delights in sitting down with you to run through the menu before orchestrating the arrival of high quality traditional local fare.

The icing on the cake of a stay at Villa Victoria, though, is the owner, Giannis. The friendliest patron we have had the pleasure to rent our accommodation from. There to greet us, back several times in a fortnight to check that all was well and there to see us off at departure time, always with a friendly smile and tales to tell. Our own tale to tell was of Yannis chasing an escaped goat around the extensive grounds. Well, who could blame it for thinking it would have a better lot around the pool of the villa than in its own olive grove next door.

”

Villa Dionysus

5/5
“We booked Villa Dionysus at the last minute, and we are delighted we did. We loved every minute of our week there. The villa is beautifully equipped, beautifully situated and the owners - Katerina and George - could not have been kinder or more hospitable. We particularly enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating areas, which were thoughtfully and tastefully arranged.

We fully intend to go back, and wholeheartedly recommend the villa to others.”
