“What a glorious villa, one of the best we've ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean and authentically Greek. In a lovely quiet area (a little noise form the main road when the wind was in a certain direction but you get used to it very quickly), Maleme resort was perfect for us and gave us just the right amount of Tavernas and bars. The kids loved it too and Platanias was only a 10 minute drive away for a slightly wilder night out. The owners obviously love their villa as it's so well maintained and we had a wonderful welcome of fresh fruit, local wines and produce. All the reviews we read before we booked were spot on, not a single bad word to say, such a lovely thing nowadays as you never are too sure what you're going to get. Highly, highly recommended.”

“We are a family of four who, until staying at Villa Dionysus, have never returned to the same destination or villa. To return again is a reflection of how truly lovely this villa and location are. Our second stay at this beautiful villa was just as fantastic as our first visit in 2015. Katerina and her family are such wonderful hosts, whose hospitality extends way beyond any that we have ever experienced on other holidays.<br><br> This is such a beautiful part of Greece that we will no doubt visit again and return to the tranquility of Villa Dionysus.<br><br> Thank you for a wonderful stay...again :)”

“We've been to Crete five or six times before but this year we came with other family members who were visiting for the first time and they were not disappointed. We were a party of 8 people, all adults apart from one 15 year old and we all had a fantastic holiday. Right from the start, the owner Maria was there with a warm welcome, she'd even bought us a few locally produced Cretan specialities too. The pool was lovely, the villa was bright and airy, beautifully furnished and contained everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The views were superb; mountains, sea and olive groves in such a peaceful setting.<br><br> A car is essential but driving on Crete is stress free compared to some other places. The local supermarket in Maleme is under 5 minutes in the car and has everything you need including a butcher. They even had great options for one of our party who is vegan! The local town beach is less than 10 minutes away with plenty of free parking, restaurants right by the beach and although the beach is pebbly at the top, it is still great if you fancy a relaxing day without a long drive. For a sandy beach then Elafonissi is really special with shallow calm water and beautiful lagoons but it is very busy so arrive early to get a parking space. Falassarna is also sandy but less busy and the water is a bit rougher. The guys who look after the sunbeds offer a menu service from the local taverna delivered on a quad bike right to your sunbed!<br><br> The larger town of Platanias is about a 10 minute drive, has a great, cool, underground car park and lots of shops, bars, restaurants and places to buy souvenirs. Great in the evening too, a taxi (from VS taxis) into Platanias was 17 euros and the family run Restaurant of Western Crete serves the BEST souvlaki on the island!<br><br> Overall, beds were comfy, villa was spotless, cleaning lady came twice a week to change beds and towels (yes she did take 5 hours as someone has already said!) and pool guys came a couple of times a week but they were gone before most of our party were up and about. Directions sent through in advance were brilliant too with the photographs - really helpful. <br><br> Would highly recommend!!!”

“Villa had everything we needed. Perfect location, well maintained. Really nice welcome on arrival even though it was quite late. We had an incident and needed help from the owners who arrived within 5 minutes and sorted the problem speedily without any fuss. Many thanks for a great week.”

“Wir (2 Kinder und 3 Erwachsene) verbrachten 2 Wochen in diesem sehr schönen Haus. Die Begrüssung durch den Inhaber war sehr herzlich. Uns empfingen ein gefüllter Kühlschrank und das wichtigste für den 1. Tag. So etwas haben wir noch in keinem Haus erlebt.<br><br> Einmal in der Woche wurde das Haus geputzt und die Abfalleimer geleert.<br><br> Das Haus liegt in den Bergen, die Aussicht über den Lake Kournas und das Meer ist wundervoll. Wir genossen viele Abende auf der Terrasse. Trotzdem ist man in nicht einmal 10 Minuten am Meer unten, eine perfekte Lage des Hauses. <br><br> Das Haus hat in allen Schlafzimmern eine Klimaanlage. Der Pool ist super für eine Abkühlung nach einem heissen Tag. Es hat 6 Sonnenliegen um den Pool. <br><br> Am Meer hat es einen etwa 20 Km langen Sandstrand, der Sand ist fein und für ins Meer flachabfallend. Perfekt für Familien mit Kindern. Obwohl wir in der Hochsaison dort waren, sprich Ende Juli – Anfangs August haben sich die Leute am Strand gut verteilt. <br><br> Von Flughafen Heraklion hatten wir ca. 1.5 h Anfahrtsweg. Rehtymnon ist ca. 20 Minuten entfernt und bis nach Chania hatten wir etwa 50 Minuten. <br><br> Wenn wir wieder einmal nach Kreta gehen, werden wir dieses Haus wieder buchen. ”

“Superb villa, outstanding design with a perfect location on the beach. We have just returned from an excellent 2 weeks at Villa Calma - and it was even better than our expectation. The villa seems much larger even than the photos but is just perfect in every way. The owner is extremely attentive, helpful and generous and left an amazing selection of local foods and drinks for our arrival. The villa is exceptionally clean and is cleaned every three days. Location is ideal, over small road to a sandy beach which is never that busy with many tavernas near the house. Small supermarket with fresh bread every morning. Great position to explore Chania, Elafonissi beach, and the ruins of Aptera. Would highly recommend and we will be back!!”

“We yearn to be back at the Joseph Villa after spending a really wonderful week! The location, villa and especially the hospitality from Giannis made it truly special. We enjoyed many food goodies, thanks to our host and also fantastic sausages for the BBQ! Mmmmm.<br><br> The gardens - WOW! you can tell it is a real passion of Giannis' with so much love and care being put into them. The pool was so inviting - especially to escape the hot temperatures!<br><br> We had a very special vacation - thank you Giannis, Cleopatra and Joseph. “Very nice house to share with friends and family<br><br> Great swimming pool and great view<br> Nice and quiet area <br><br> Shaded dining area overlooking the sea with a very nice big table <br><br> Could do with a bit more sun umbrellas (a tiny one by the swimming pool with the Cretan sun isn't enough)<br><br> The bedrooms upstairs are very nice and airy, they each have a balcony which is valuable (could be nice to put some deckchairs ...)<br> The bedrooms downstairs being next to the pool machinery, it"s a bit noisy (fortunately it comes back on at 9.30 in the morning)<br><br> Access to the sea not recommended with children (but they really enjoyed the pool)<br><br> We spent a very nice week in this house”
