“First of all, Iannis, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful - nothing was too much for him. I've rented many villas in my life and quite a few have had pleasant owners but Iannis is truly exceptional. Even if the villa were only average, it would be worth renting it just for the kindness of the owner! But the good news is, the villa is fantastic.

Beautiful view, beautiful pool, lovely garden that's absolutely private despite the presence of another villa on the site (we never saw the occupants and only heard them once, for about two minutes...). The kitchen was very well equipped and there is also an outside bbq. By the way, Iannis kindly left a few supplies in the kitchen for our arrival, at no extra cost. The beds were comfortable (though when we were there it was too hot to sit outside on the upstairs balconies so we used the downstairs terrace and garden), and the upstairs bathroom was perfect. The downstairs bathroom was more of a downstairs loo than a bathroom proper, but it served its purpose. And the location isn't difficult once you've managed to get there the first time (the only tricky part is the turnoff from the Chania-Rethymnon highway which is sprung on you at the last minute!).

If I have to find fault at all, which is difficult, it's the absence of ceiling fans - air conditioning there is aplenty, but it's non-ecofriendly, energy consuming (for Iannis, not for you, because it's included in the price...!), noisy and too cold. Ceiling fans are an absolute necessity, and Iannis assured me he'd install them for next year.

There's little else to add, except... if you want to eat out really well, it's worth driving the 20 minutes to the kafeneion in Maza!”
“We had a perfect stay in the villa, in fact we did not want to leave ! Its location is perfect for a relaxing break, with no need for a car. The beach is very close and the sea is lovely to swim in too. ”
“We spent a lovely two weeks here as two families of 4. The villa had everything we needed and Stella was a welcoming host who brought us lovely treats throughout our stay.

The beach is about a 10 minute walk away and has several restaurants. The bus to larger towns and the beautiful city of Chania is really easy and regular. We loved it.

The only thing that is worth mentioning is that the neighbour asked us to keep the noise down (and we felt that we were already being reasonable) so it would not be suitable for loud parties! Having said that, it is perfect for relaxing by the pool. Just lovely. ”
“We had a great week at Villa Reverie. Lovely pool and amazing views and sunsets. Well located for Chania and the various beaches on the west coast. ”
“My daughter, grandchildren and myself have just returned from a holiday in Crete at Euphoria Villa. As a family, we have holidayed in Kalyves and the surrounding areas for over 20 years, and regard this area as ‘our happy place’. This was our first holiday in Plaka and it certainly won’t be the last. It is an ideal location to visit many places but a car is essential.

Euphoria villa is certainly one of the best villas we have stayed in, it has a real sense of peace and the most beautiful views. It is very well equipped, beautifully clean and the outside area is lovely. The children loved the pool and though it is not heated, it was warm. Manolis, the owner, is an excellent host, always ready to suggest places and restaurants to visit and always easy to contact.

Plaka has everything you might need, Taki’s was our favourite restaurant, the food and service being very good. We also liked Dimitris in Almyrida but the service is very slow. Almyrida has an excellent choice of restaurants, lovely bakery and any gift shops. Kalyves, a little further away also has many restaurants, two lovely beaches and a decent sized supermarket. Hopefully, we’ll return next year.”
“A very warm welcome by the very hospitable owner Adonis and his wife. Villa Enid has a beautiful view, the house is spacious and fully equipped and therefore feels like coming home.
The garden with a gorgeous infinity pool is wonderfully spacious, yet cozy. Rental car is recommended.”
“Superbe villa, accueil magnifique d’Antonis. Nous reviendrons forcément !!!
Merci Antonis !!”
“We've just returned from a wonderful week at Villa Joseph. It's such a lovely spot to stay, both in terms of the beautiful gardens around the villa and the local area. The villa is in a really quiet spot with fantastic views over the lake towards the coast and to the mountains, but equally it's easy to get to the main north coast road to get around the island.

We loved going up the road to Kornas where we had an excellent & very inexpensive meal at Kali Kardia and also a lovely waymarked walk around the foothills.

Other highlights included a trip over the crazy mountain pass to Frangokastello and hiring a boat for a day from Nosto Mare in Hora Sfakion on the south coast.

However it was fantastic to come back to Villa Joseph at the end of the day and just relax in such special surroundings.

Finally a thank you to the wonderful host Giannis who patiently waited for us to arrive late on a Saturday night and left a great spread of food & drink which meant we didn't have to worry about food until later on the Sunday - that was a real help.

We hired a car through Chania-Rentals too which I'd recommend, it was an easy process.

Thanks again! ”
“We spend 2 weeks in this beautiful villa in Stalos. We had team of six adults and four children, and we have enough space for all of us. The swimming pool was daily used, and the view was fantastic. Villa was clean and you can enjoy your own peace and quit. Villa is situated in the higher area, so it is good to have a car like we had. We also walked a view time to beach and restaurants, so if you have good health and spirit, it is easily doable as well. The owners were easy to approach and helped whenever we need any help. The dishes and cooking utensils in the kitchen were a little view for our needs as we were expected having far more of them. We hope that wooden grates around the swimming pool are changed as they planned to do - it was in some places a little bit dangerous for feet. In general, we can warmly recommend the villa. Kato Stalos and the surroundings are worth visiting. ”
“The villa is just as the photos show: simple but classic, with plenty of space and surrounded from nature and privacy.

The pool was our favourite part: wide enough to swim and play. As there are many trees surrounding the pool it gets dirty relatively easy but was very easy to clean.

The sense of hospitality Katharine give to the guests is really unique and was really appreciated. She cooked for us many delicacy from Greece and filled up the fridge for our arrival. We have travelled around the world and never had such a thoughtful host before.

The location is also really good: everything can be done on foot. Shops and restaurant are just around the corner. ”
“There are places so amazing and beautiful that you would prefer not to share the knowledge of it with others....this is exactly how we (two families with 4 teenage kids) felt during our stay in Aquila Vila. We have been to lots of great vilas (always booked with Chania Rentals) but this one was the best.

The house itself is really beautiful and perfectly equipped, the view is spectacular and the hospitality of Artemis together with Nikis support made of our vacation a wonderful experience.

We truly hope to back next year!”
“We spend one week in the lovely villa Dionysus. Upon arrival at 2200 we were most friendly received and we found the fridge and the oven filled with food, a very pleasant surprise.
During the week we were again treated on a lovely meal.
The villa is very spacious, nice garden and swimming pool. There are lounge beds, and everywhere corners with chairs and tables.
At walking distance you will find tavernas, a big supermarket and the small village of Kalives.
We enjoyed our stay (despite the very bad weather at the end of the week), and we would love to come back! ”
