Laina Villa is a recently renovated villa, part of a characterized as a preservable historical monument settlement. High quality and sensitivity in harmony with the cretan environment and its history are the main characteristics of the house. Metohi is a traditional hamlet, located only 800m from the beach and 4km from Platanias. Along the old national road, 600m from the villa, you can find everything - mini markets, groceries, taverns and cafés.
The private garden of the villa is surrounded by high walls, ensuring the privacy of the tenants. In front of the villa there is a monastic table where you can enjoy your breakfast and meals that you can prepare on the barbecue or the traditional stone oven. Around the private swimming pool you will find sunbeds for sunbathing under the hot summer cretan sun. The large terrace with the great sea and country view is also perfect for sunbathing and relaxation.
In a spacious area at the ground floor there is a traditional sitting set, a dining set and the open plan kitchen. The kitchen is separated from the sitting area with a stone arch. At the same floor there are one double bedroom with direct access to the pool, one twin bedroom with a fireplace and a bathroom. Two more bedrooms, one double and one twin, are found on the first floor. A bathroom and a large terrace complete this floor. The sea and country view from the terrace is wonderful.
4 bedrooms, sleeps up to 8 persons
Our family of six absolutely loved our stay at Laina Villa! From the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen the perfect place for our holiday. The villa itself is absolutely beautiful — it genuinely feels like staying in your own private castle! It is spacious, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, including two coffee machines (a pod machine and a filter machine), as well as plenty of cups, glasses, plates, utensils and everything else you could think of. The outside space is simply fantastic. The pool is huge, and our children could hardly be persuaded to get out of it! There is so much space to relax, and the upstairs area is particularly special. Sitting there in the evening watching the sunset over the surrounding area was absolutely stunning. The owners are a truly lovely family and were one of the highlights of our stay. They were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They gave us loads of useful information about the local area, including the best ways to get around and recommendations for the surrounding villages. They even went above and beyond when we had an issue with a local taxi company that had overcharged us. The owners contacted the company on our behalf and managed to get some of our money back. That really showed how much they genuinely care about their guests and making sure they have a great experience. The location is also excellent. There are restaurants within walking distance, and Platanias is only around five minutes away by bus. The bus stop is just a five-minute walk from the villa, making it really easy to get out and explore. We honestly couldn't fault our stay. Laina Villa is beautiful, the location is fantastic, the facilities are excellent and the owners are wonderful people. We would 100% recommend Laina Villa to anyone considering staying here. We absolutely loved it and would happily return!
This house was absolutely perfect for us. The location was in a small hamlet, so felt wonderfully secluded and rustic, however was just 10-15 minutes drive to Platanias bustling with tavernas, small boutiques and lovely beaches.
The house itself was a carefully renovated 300 year old stone building, that was comfortable, spacious, while retaining lots of gorgeous character. There are 4 bedrooms, and each one has its own charm. My favourite was the upstairs double bedroom, which had windows on 3 of its 4 walls, with shutters that I kept open so that I could see the sunrise all around me in the morning! However each bedroom had its own unique aspect. The kitchen was large and very well equipped, there was nothing that we needed that was not supplied. It would probably be equally great to stay in cooler months, and light the fireplace in the kitchen, and sit around the TV in the sitting room- we did not do either of these things, but imagine fall/winter would be perfect for this. Two modern bathrooms, with lovely stone tiles, and great showers etc.
The owners were equally delightful, and made sure everything was exactly right for our stay. The pool was wonderful, and we were happy to have some shaded areas with hammocks and lounge beds as well as areas in full sun. The upstairs terrace provided an idyllic spot for an early morning coffee at sunrise, as the whole sky turned pink, as well as outstanding sunsets to watch with a glass of wine in the evening.
All in all, a fantastic visit, and I would happily come back!
